The Law Office of Kristen Allard Shier focuses on consumer issues: bankruptcy, debtor rights, debt collection defense, foreclosure defense and homeowner rights. As an attorney and consumer advocate, my goal is two-fold: the first is to help you, as a consumer,  understand your rights, and the second is to give you the tools to protect your rights.

I witnessed my parents’ financial struggles while I was growing up, and I saw how it ate at them, and the stress it caused them.

I chose to focus my practice on protecting the rights of the consumer because  I believe every person should have a fair shot at protecting themselves and their families. I can help my clients the most by giving them a voice while providing guidance through the often confusing legal system.

In many cases it is a lost job, a pay cut, or in the case of my parents, a chronic illness coupled with a lack of health insurance that resulted in a mountain of medical bills and limited earning potential. I know from first-hand experience that the weight of the crushing debt can make you feel extremely stressed out, embarrassed, thoroughly depressed, and completely hopeless.

I am a member of the State Bar of Colorado, and am licensed to practice before all state courts, and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. I am also a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA), and the Colorado Bar Association. Bankruptcy and Consumer law are complex and continually changing. I attend conferences held throughout the year by these organizations that keep me up to date on the latest in court developments and bankruptcy trends nationwide.
